Many people are curious about chiropractic care and wonder if it could help them. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions

Q: Why choose chiropractic?
A: Because it works! Multiple studies show the efficacy of chiropractic care for musculoskeletal pain. One US Government study on the treatment of acute lower back pain concluded: “Spinal manipulation: manual therapy for symptomatic relief and functional improvement of the back. Relief of discomfort can be accomplished most safely with nonprescription medication and/or spinal manipulation. AHCPR Guideline #14: Acute Low Back Problems in Adults. Dec 8, 1994.

Many professional athletes rely on chiropractic care to keep them in top form. The list includes:  Serena Williams, Martina Navratilova, Emmitt Smith, Joe Montana, Vernon Davis and Peyton Manning. If chiropractic care is good enough for them, it’s good enough for you!

Q: How much does treatment cost?
A: Prices are quite reasonable starting from $80 an office visit.

Q: Is it going to hurt?
A: You may experience some mild muscle soreness as we are challenging previously injured areas in order to strengthen them or improve flexibility.

Q: What services do you provide?
A: We offer clients: Condition specific education, therapeutic exercise, soft tissue therapies including (ART and NMR), and high power laser therapy.

Q: How long does an appointment last?
A: A typical appointment last about 40-50 minutes. During the first appointment an examination will be performed which last about one hour.

Q: My MRI shows a herniated disc can you help me?
A: We have helped many patients with disc herniations. A study of 52 asymptomatic adults revealed that 20% of people ages 20-39 had herniated discs in their lower back. For those over 40 and older, 50% had abnormalities like disc herniations, spinal stenosis upon CT examination. Weisel, MD. Spine 1984; 9(6):49-51

Much of lower back pain is based on how well the body is able to function in spite of imaging (X-ray or MRI) abnormalities. We specialize in showing you how to improve your function and decrease your pain.

Q: I have knee pain; can you help me?
A: Yes. Knee pain is very common and upon beginning a program of active care it often decreases dramatically.

Q: Can chiropractic care help me with my headaches?
A: Yes many people suffering from headaches respond positively to chiropractic care. Occasionally, multidisciplinary management is used in order to get the best results.

Q:  I don’t want to be adjusted. Is this a necessary part of the treatment?
A: Every patient is unique. Chiropractic adjustments are appropriate for certain conditions, but are not absolutely necessary. The signature treatment is the education you will receive about the spectrum of treatment options that are recommended for you.
